Welcome to a healthier world

Non-toxic baby products

Who likes toxic and allergenic substances? We don’t. Young children suck and bite most things, so baby products must be safe to chew. Our products are non-toxic.

That’s the short version and here comes the long version. Our products are certified according to the criteria in Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and this is how it works:

  • Oeko-Tex is the leading global label for textiles, leather and accessories that have been tested for harmful substances.
  • About 10,000 producers in almost 90 countries along the entire textile chain participate in the Oeko-Tex certification system, which makes it the most easily recognisable and widespread global brand for textiles tested for harmful substances.
  • A product may only be marketed or labelled with Oeko-Tex if all component parts comply with the criteria in the relevant product class.
  • Certification includes not only illegal and legally regulated substances, but also other substances that are scientifically proven to be or suspected of being health hazardous.
  • As far as the continual development of limits, test criteria and test methods are concerned, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 has frequently emerged as a pioneer in the assessment of potentially health-damaging substances in textiles.
  • Examples of parameters covered by the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 include banned azo dyes, carcinogenic and allergenic dyes, phthalates, formaldehyde, pesticides, heavy metals, certain chlorine-organic and tin-organic compounds, biological active products and flame retardants.

Oeko-Tex has four different product classes. They regulate different areas of use, from curtains and tablecloths in class IV to textile toys, rompers and bed linen for babies in class I. Baby carriers from BABYBJÖRN are certified according to the criteria in class I, which is the strictest category. Class I regulates products intended for babies and children up to the age of three years, who are especially sensitive.

It’s important to remember one thing: not all baby products on the market manage to comply with this strict certification. For example, production may be certified according to a certain health and safety standard, but the fibre may then be dyed using non-compliant chemicals. When you choose a baby carrier certified according to Oeko-Tex, Standard 100, class I, you can be certain that the entire end-product is non-toxic!
